Hello.
I am a web and mobile applications developer in the south west of England.
I have an ambition to build computer applications that benefit people in their everyday life.
I believe the best applications are simple, functional and do one thing really well.
I'm currently studying Computer Science at Plymouth University and building cool things like QRifi in my spare time.
What I consider myself to be good at.
- Learning new things really fast.
- Designing as I develop.
- Minimal, functional design.
- Optimised, robust programming.
Some more technical stuff:
- Front end web design.
- User interaction and user experience design.
- Responsive web design (try shrinking this page!).
- Server-side web development in PHP and Django.
- Mobile application development, mostly in android, but some Objective C too.
- Application development in Java and C / C++
- Agile project management.
Other useful things:
- Skilled Pokémon trading card game player.
- Built-in terrible pun generator.
- Optimised juggling skills.
What I've been doing recently.
For the past year I've been on placement with XMOS.
They've put me in charge of managing and updating XCore; their community site.
In my spare time I'm stuck deep in a few projects, including an awesome secret one that I'll be revealing soon (it's for android and iphone!).
Stuff I've already made.
- Various github repositories with useful stuff.
- QRifi - wireless network access through encrypted QR codes.
- The Google android mascot in pure HTML5 and CSS3. Have a look.
- A wrapper class for adding new contacts in android. View the javadoc.
- A tweak for twitter using greasemonkey / tampermonkey to make the menu more consistent. Get the source.
- A PHP wrapper for Clicky analytics. Download the package.
How to get in touch.
I'm looking to work in a fast, fun and challenging start up.
I'd like to help build something exciting and revolutionary.
If you want a CV, please email me here.
